Votes for Women Linocut Print
Inspired by the Suffragettes & their Votes for Women campaign in Great Britain this linocut print illustrates Emmeline Pankhurst and the medal given to suffragettes for being in prison for the cause, with date tags to detail their time incarcerated and a hunger strike medallion. Also detailed are chains to symbolise the women who chained themselves to railings in protest & matches/bomb for when protests had to become violent for them to be heard. Sashes which were worn have 'Suffragette' and 'Deeds not Words' written on them. The flowers & dove evoke the peace & freedom for which they sought & for the voices all around the world which still fight for equality today.
